How to Fix Auto-Generated Captions Fast (Accuracy Checklist)

The mistakes AI transcription makes most often

• Names and brands: people, products, places and company names.
• Sound-alike words: "their/there", "for/four", "right/write".
• Numbers: "fifteen" vs "fifty", prices, dates and percentages.
• Jargon: technical terms, slang and abbreviations.
• Punctuation: run-on sentences, or missing question marks.
• Filler words: "um", "uh" and false starts. Decide whether you want them on screen.

A fast editing workflow in CapMagic Studio

1. Play the video once, all the way through, while reading the captions. Note anything that looks wrong.
2. Open the Transcript tab. Each caption line has a text box. Click and correct words directly; the preview updates straight away.
3. Jump to problem spots with the ▶ button on a line, or click an individual word chip to jump to that exact word.
4. Fix timing with the start and end fields if a line appears too early or too late.
5. Add or remove lines with Add Line and the bin icon.
6. Already have a script? Use Paste Script to create caption lines from your text, then review the timing of each line.

Final accuracy checklist

• Every name and brand spelled correctly.
• Numbers match what was said.
• No line stays on screen much longer or shorter than the speech.
• Consistent capitalisation, especially if you use UPPERCASE styling.

• Sound cues added in brackets where they matter for understanding.

Get better captions from the start

• Use a microphone close to the speaker. A cheap clip-on mic beats a phone across the room.
• Keep background music low while people are talking; add louder music in the edit where no one speaks.
• Speak clearly and at a steady pace, and avoid talking over each other.
• Record in a quiet room. Echo and wind confuse speech recognition.

Editing time: what to expect

With clear audio, reviewing a one-minute video usually takes a couple of minutes: one viewing to spot problems and a few quick corrections. Noisy audio, fast overlapping speech or lots of technical vocabulary take longer, because more words need checking.

Two habits save the most time:

• Fix recurring words once, mentally: if a product name is wrong in the first line, it's probably wrong in every line. Scan for it specifically.
• Review at normal speed with sound on: slowing down makes you over-edit; the goal is captions that match what viewers hear.
